Graduate Enrichment Program (GEP)
Semester One 2012
GEP is a free program run and supported by the Faculty of Business and Economics. It helps students - especially international students new to the academic culture in Australia - to develop their academic learning skills. A secondary aim of the sessions is to enhance students' awareness of Australian life, culture and institutions. The sessions are meant to enrich students' studies both academically and socially.
GEP is a not-for-credit subject, which means that it is a subject with no credit points awarded. However, you also need to register your interest by completing the registration form. Attendance is monitored during the program, and GEP is added to student transcripts at the end of semester.
GEP Sessions
GEP Sessions run every Friday, 12-2 pm in the Level One Lecture Theatre, The Spot.
There are no assessment tasks during GEP and you may attend as many or as few sessions as you wish. If you attend at least 16 out of the 22 sessions GEP appears on your student transcript.
GEP has four main parts:
- Preparation for study and improving your writing skills (9 lectures)
- Research and library skills (3 lectures)
- Reading, communication and presentation skills (2 lectures)
- Australian institutions, culture and society (8 lectures).
The sessions are held in a friendly and supportive environment. All graduates are welcome to attend and some sessions are particularly useful for international students.
